Mladá Boleslav / Paris, 24 September 2018 – At the 2018 Paris Motor Show, ŠKODA will be presenting itself not just as sporty and sustainable, but also as a mobility services provider. The Czech brand is inviting the show’s visitors to a special digital experience from 2 to 14 October: At the ŠKODA stand in the User Experience corner, they can go through a fictional day as an avatar that they have created themselves and be guided through tailor-made digital offers. With the VISION RS concept study ŠKODA offers a look ahead in Paris, presenting a future compact car and the next stage of development for the sporty RS family. A family that now includes its first ever SUV – the ŠKODA KODIAQ RS. The SCOUT and SPORTLINE variants expand the range for the ŠKODA KAROQ compact SUV. The ŠKODA OCTAVIA G-TEC is more powerful and offers a greater range when running on environmentally friendly natural gas (CNG).

Developing ŠKODA AUTO from an outright car manufacturer into the ‘Simply Clever company for the best mobility solutions’ is an important part of the ŠKODA 2025 Strategy. At the 2018 Paris Motor Show from 2 to 14 October, the Czech brand will be demonstrating how the driver and their environment are becoming evermore closely connected. At the ŠKODA stand, visitors to the show will be able to experience technologies and services virtually which make everyday mobility easier. In the User Experience corner, the visitors can create an avatar and equip their digital alter ego with their own characteristics and needs. Using short videos, the avatar guides the visitor through a fictional day which is made easier by innovations and mobility services from ŠKODA AUTO DigiLab.

Innovative mobility services

The continuously growing car-sharing platform HoppyGo, for example, is already one of the biggest in the Czech Republic. It offers its ever-increasing fanbase a flexible mobility service that can be arranged easily and conveniently using a smartphone app. In addition to the ŠKODA Connect app, ŠKODA drivers can use the ŠKODA Connect Alexa skill to find out information about their car by asking the Amazon Alexa Voice Service simple questions from the comfort of their living room: whether the doors are locked and the windows are closed, for example, or how much fuel is in the tank and where their ŠKODA is parked. In addition to German and English, the ŠKODA Connect Alexa skill is now also available in French, and will soon be offered in Spanish as well. The integration of Smart Home on the other hand, allows users to check on their connected home from their ŠKODA vehicle. ŠKODA drivers can conveniently monitor the status of various Smart Home devices – for example, whether the lights have been left on in the kitchen or whether the windows are closed.

A look into the future with the ŠKODA VISION RS
The ŠKODA VISION RS concept study demonstrates how ŠKODA envisages future sporty RS models and also a future compact vehicle. The ŠKODA VISION RS combines the sportiness of an emotive new design language with a high degree of sustainability by using recycled carbon fibre and vegan materials, for example. Apart from by carbon fibre, a high-tech material that is well known from motorsport, the interior is also dominated by cut crystal glass that is illuminated and animated. The electric powertrain guarantees driving dynamics and efficiency.

ŠKODA KODIAQ RS is the first SUV in the RS family
The new ŠKODA KODIAQ RS, on the other hand, will soon enter series production. The first SUV to feature the new, red RS logo comes with a 176-kW (240-PS) diesel engine, the most powerful production diesel in ŠKODA history. Setting a lap record of 9 minutes 29.84 seconds for seven-seater SUVs on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife, the ŠKODA KODIAQ RS has proven its sporty capabilities in impressive style – even before its world premiere in Paris. The ŠKODA KODIAQ RS comes with RS-specific design features, including new bumpers and gloss-black elements such as the radiator grille, window frames and wing mirrors, as well as full-LED headlights. Standard equipment for the sporty SUV also includes all-wheel drive, adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) and progressive steering. The KODIAQ RS is also the first ŠKODA model to come with 20-inch alloy wheels and the new Dynamic Sound Boost as standard. The latter complements the natural note of the engine and refines its sound profile. The interior is shaped by sports seats with perforated Alcantara® and carbon leather as well as by the virtual cockpit.

ŠKODA KAROQ SPORTLINE with 140-kW petrol engine (190 PS)
The new ŠKODA KAROQ SPORTLINE also has a sporty appearance. Launched in 2017, the versatile compact SUV is now available in this new variant for the first time and exclusively with a 2.0 TSI engine (140 kW / 190 PS). As a SPORTLINE, the KAROQ’s emotive design is even more refined and numerous black elements underline its dynamic appearance. Black sports seats with an innovative fabric cover and contrasting silver-coloured stitching add to the sporty feel of the interior. The ŠKODA KAROQ SPORTLINE is available with front- or all-wheel drive. There is a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines, which produce 110 kW (150 PS) or 140 kW (190 PS).

ŠKODA KAROQ SCOUT is the new adventurer
The ŠKODA KAROQ SCOUT is taking on the role of the new adventurer in the KAROQ range. This new off-road variant comes with all-wheel drive as standard for all engines and sports a more rugged design. Silver-coloured plastic elements provide all-round protection for the elegant body in the city as well as on rougher terrain; chrome strips surround the radiator grille and side windows. Under its distinctive wheel arch covers, the SCOUT features 18-inch or optional 19-inch alloy wheels. The interior is equipped with Piano Black features, decorative strips in a dark ash-wood effect and seats with new covers and contrasting stitching. Two diesel engines delivering either 110 kW (150 PS) or 140 kW (190 PS) or a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine (110 kW / 150 PS) do the job under the bonnet.

More power and greater CNG range for ŠKODA OCTAVIA G-TEC
The ŠKODA OCTAVIA G-TEC comes with a new, more powerful 1.5-litre TSI engine (96 kW / 130 PS). Running on CNG reduces CO2 emissions by around 25 percent compared to petrol. In addition, significantly less nitrogen oxide (NOx) is emitted and there are no soot particles. The OCTAVIA G-TEC is exclusively available as a COMBI and in the Active, Ambition and Style trim levels. It complies with the currently strictest EU6d-TEMP emissions standard and achieves a range of 480 km when travelling purely on environmentally friendly natural gas. Its three CNG tanks have a combined total capacity of 17.7 kg. An 11.8-litre petrol tank ensures mobility in regions with no natural gas fuelling stations.

The ŠKODA AUTO press conference at 2018 Paris Motor Show will take place at the ŠKODA booth in Pavillion 4, on 2 October from 13:00 CET. It will be broadcast live on www.skoda-storyboard.com. Media can also broadcast the event using the embedded youtube code on their own channels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTW_e_0CTcs

Mercedes-Benz Cars at the 2018 Paris Motor Show: Three world premieres from Mercedes-Benz in Paris: B-Class, GLE and Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC

Stuttgart/Paris. The focus of Mercedes-Benz Cars at this year's Paris Motor Show (4 to 14 October) will be not only on the motor show premiere of the battery-electric Mercedes-Benz EQC (combined power consumption: 22.2 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km, provisional figures) , but also on the world premieres of GLE and B-Class.

Also making its first public appearance is an all-new entry-level model from the world of Driving Performance, the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC (combined fuel consumption: 7.4-7.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 169-167 g/km) [ii]. The new six-cylinder GT 43 4MATIC+ 4-door Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 9.4-9.1 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 215-209 g/km)ii rounds off the offering from Mercedes-AMG at the show. A further highlight is a show car from smart to mark the brand's 20th anniversary.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE is the best-selling SUV in the history of Mercedes-Benz. As comfortable on the road as a luxury saloon, the new GLE comes with better off-road credentials than ever before. The new model offers significantly more room in the interior, the new user interface, considerably extended and refined driving assistance systems, the best aerodynamics in the segment, an all-new range of engines and a host of other innovations.

The new Mercedes-Benz B-Class puts the emphasis on the sports part of Sports Tourer. It looks more dynamic than its predecessor and is more agile while offering greater comfort. In addition, the interior has been made more spacious, while the engines are now more efficient and cleaner. Its avant-garde interior makes for a unique feeling of space with the unique design of the instrument panel. The intuitive user interface of the adaptive MBUX multimedia system is ground-breaking. State-of-the-art driving assistance systems give the B-Class one of the highest standards of active safety in the segment with functions carried over from the S-Class.

Point of entry into the world of Driving Performance: Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC

With the A 35 4MATIC, Mercedes-AMG presents an all-new entry-level model from the world of Driving Performance. Based on the new Mercedes-Benz A‑Class, it is powered by a newly developed 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine with 225 kW (306 hp). Bodyshell, suspension, all-wheel drive, transmission, drive programs, fine tuning – the AMG engineers have designed every detail for maximum driving dynamics without compromising on everyday comfort.

There has also been a new addition to the AMG GT family. The new 270 kW (367 hp) six-cylinder Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4MATIC+ 4‑door Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 9.4-9.1 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 215-209 g/km)i extends the range of sports cars to include an attractively priced entry-level model. The looks, technology, equipment and individualisation options are the same as those of the more powerful six-cylinder AMG GT 53 4MATIC+ unveiled in March 2018 (combined fuel consumption: 9.4-9.1 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 215-209 g/km)i

smart: open to everything and never boring

With the world premiere of the smart show car, smart gives playful expression to its attitude to life: simple, reduced and pure, yet never boring, and unconventional in its ideas. To mark the brand's 20th anniversary, the show car also makes reference to the earlier concept vehicles Crossblade (2002) and forspeed (2011). As a radically open electric convertible, the latter in particular was a natural example for the new star of the show to follow.

The "edition pureblack" special model is available for sale. It combines a matt black paint finish with shiny black add-on parts such as side skirts, roof spoiler and diffuser along with red accents.

Motor show premieres: further new models from Mercedes-Benz EQ

The new product and technology brand EQ will unveil two models in Paris. Making its first appearance at a motor show is the EQC, the first all-electric standard-production model from Mercedes-Benz EQ. The Mercedes-Benz among battery-electric vehicles, it symbolises a new era of mobility with extensive services for the electric mobility of today and tomorrow. The EQC impresses with the sum of its attributes in terms of comfort, quality and range.

The EQ Silver Arrow show car is an emotive signpost to the future of design. The single-seater also pays homage to the successful record-breaking W 125 car from 1937.

The A-Class Sedan is also making its debut at a motor show. It represents the compact point of entry into the world of premium saloons from Mercedes-Benz.

Figures for fuel consumption/power consumption and CO2 emissions are provisional and were determined by the technical service for the certification procedure in accordance with the WLTP test procedure and correlated in NEDC values. EC type approval and certificate of conformity with official figures are not yet available. Differences between the stated figures and the official figures are possible.

[ii] The stated figures were determined in accordance with the prescribed measuring method. These are NEDC CO2 values according to Art. 2 No. 1 Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/1153. The fuel consumption figures were calculated based on these figures. Further information on the vehicles on offer, including the WLTP values, can be found for each country at www.mercedes-benz.com

Nota de prensa, en inglés
BMW at the Mondial de l’Automobile Paris 2018.

The latest results of BMW’s ongoing product offensive are taking centre stage at the brand’s Mondial de l’Automobile 2018 show stand in Paris.

The latest results of BMW’s ongoing product offensive are taking centre stage at the brand’s Mondial de l’Automobile 2018 show stand in Paris. Emotion-packed design, pioneering technology and an even more richly engaging form of driving pleasure define the character of the new models BMW is presenting at the most important date on Europe’s 2018 car show calendar. The fresh arrivals introduce the brand’s new design language to a number of vehicle segments and represent significant advances in the areas of digitalisation, operation, sustainability and driving dynamics. For example, visitors to the Paris show will discover the first models to feature the new BMW Operating System 7.0, which creates a fully digital grouping of instrument cluster and Control Display and allows system operation to be adapted even more precisely to the driver’s personal preferences. Further innovations include BMW Laserlight and the Steering and lane control assistant, which are also available for other new models from the brand, plus the unique Reversing Assistant, which takes over steering for reversing manoeuvres in tight areas where visibility is restricted.

The selection of series-production models due for market launch in the near future and innovative technology developments preparing to greet visitors to the Paris show from 4 – 14 October 2018 also reflect the rigorous implementation of NUMBER ONE > NEXT. The BMW Group’s corporate strategy spotlights development fields particularly relevant to the company’s future performance, i.e. design, automated driving, connectivity, electrification and services. The advances in these areas presented in Paris underscore the premium carmaker’s leading role in shaping the future of personal mobility. Also of key importance are BMW’s model offensive in the luxury segment (launched with the show premiere of the new BMW 8 Series Coupe), the continued expansion of the BMW X model family with the debut of the new BMW X5 and the addition of the new BMW M5 Competition to the BMW M GmbH line-up.

Pure sporting pedigree: the new BMW Z4.

A new chapter is set to be added to BMW’s fascinating history of roadster-making. The protagonist in question is the new BMW Z4, which will celebrate its show premiere in the French capital. The new version of the open-top two-seater exudes pure sporting pedigree at first glance with its emotionally powerful body design in the brand’s new design language, its classical soft-top roof with electric operation and its driver-focused interior. The dynamic potential of the new BMW Z4 is rooted in a range of extensively upgraded engines, a new chassis design and an extremely rigid body structure. Wide tracks, well balanced proportions and a compact wheelbase enhance the car’s handling agility. And its central seating position, minimised weight and low centre of gravity provide a ticket to intense driving pleasure. The new BMW Operating System 7.0 takes control and operation to an even higher level and makes use of 10.25-inch colour displays for both the digital instrument cluster and central monitor.

At the pinnacle of the three-pronged Z4 range is a BMW M Performance model. The new BMW Z4 M40i (fuel consumption combined: 7.4 – 7.1 l/100 km [38.2 – 39.8 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 168 – 162 g/km) is fitted with a six-cylinder in-line engine developing 250 kW/340 hp, comes as standard with features including Adaptive M Sport suspension, variable sport steering, M Sport brakes, an electronically controlled M Sport rear differential, 18-inch M light-alloy wheels and high-performance tyres, and dispatches the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds.

Making dynamic strides into the luxury segment: the new BMW 8 Series Coupe.

The new BMW 8 Series Coupe also gets its first taste of the car show spotlight at the Paris event. It combines the dynamic credentials of a high-calibre sports car both visually and technologically with the exclusivity of a luxurious coupe. The new design language, laced with clarity and precision, expresses an unmistakable sporting aesthetic. The body structure, powertrain and chassis technology of the 8 Series Coupe are geared squarely to delivering a standout driving experience of sporting intent. All of which provides an extremely dynamic initiation into the luxury segment for the brand’s model offensive. The new BMW 8 Series Coupe’s ultra-advanced control & display, driver assistance and connectivity equipment roster also contributes to the car’s exclusive, innovative character.

The resemblance of the 8 Series Coupe to the BMW M8 GTE endurance racer is highlighted particularly vividly by the BMW M Performance model available from launch. The new BMW M850i xDrive Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 10.5 – 10.0 l/100 km [26.9 – 28.3 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 240 – 228 g/km) is powered by a new V8 petrol engine developing 390 kW/530 hp and making its debut in the car. The torque-rich power unit, chassis technology developed with motor sport expertise and an M Sport differential imbue the BMW M850i xDrive Coupe with thrilling performance characteristics. Joining the V8 in the range is a six-cylinder in-line diesel engine producing 235 kW/320 hp, which takes care of power in the new BMW 840d xDrive (fuel consumption combined: 6.2 – 6.1 l/100 km [45.6 – 46.3 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 164 – 160 g/km). Both model variants have intelligent all-wheel drive and also come as standard with Adaptive M suspension and Integral Active Steering.

More versatile and innovative than ever: the new BMW X5.

The world premiere of the new BMW X5 at the Mondial de l’Automobile 2018 writes the next chapter in the successful history of the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). The fourth generation of the BMW X family’s founding father excels with majestically assured driving properties and numerous innovative equipment features. The new exterior design language clearly emphasises the presence, authority and robustness of the new BMW X5 (fuel consumption combined: 11.6 – 6.0 l/100 km [24.4 – 47.1 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 264 – 158 g/km; provisional values). The interior, meanwhile, blends generous levels of space with modern design and a luxurious ambience.

An upgraded range of engines, the latest generation of the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system and a raft of chassis systems included in a BMW X model for the first time generate the signature SAV combination of ride comfort, off-road performance and sporty road handling. Contributory factors here include two-axle air suspension, Integral Active Steering and the Off-Road package. A significantly expanded selection of innovative driver assistance systems now also includes the Steering and lane control assistant, and Reversing Assistant. Added to which, the new BMW X5 is fitted as standard with BMW Live Cockpit Professional. Working in tandem with BMW Operating System 7.0, it enables system operation to be adapted even more precisely to the driver’s wishes.

Performance, maximised: the new BMW M5 Competition.

The BMW stand at the Mondial de l’Automobile 2018 also has a world premiere in store for fans of high-performance cars, as BMW M GmbH unveils the most powerful and sportiest variant of its high-performance sedan – the new BMW M5 Competition (fuel consumption combined: 10.8 – 10.7 l/100 km [26.2 – 26.4 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 246 – 243 g/km) – for the first time in Paris. Engine output raised by 19 kW/25 hp (over the standard version of the new BMW M5) to 460 kW/625 hp, even more direct response and bespoke chassis tuning serve up a driving experience inspired overtly by motor sport competition. The new BMW M5 Competition also channels its power via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and M xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. The specific power delivery of the V8 engine, which gains from upgrades to various details, is reflected in a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time now reduced to 3.3 seconds. The new BMW M5 Competition hits 200 km/h (124 mph) from rest in 10.8 seconds.

A model-specific M Sport exhaust system, bespoke engine mounting and exclusive 20-inch M light-alloy wheels round off the elite athlete’s performance-enhancing package. Special design features in high-gloss black and “Competition” lettering added to the “M5” badge on the boot lid point to the exceptional dynamic potential of the new flagship model.
